Welcome to streetlight.org

What is possible to accomplish with a burning heart? What does it take to change someone’s life to the better? How can we give hope to people living without hope? Since January 2006 Streetlight has been working with children living in the streets of Tacloban, Philippines. Through our programs and with our time, affection and love, we try to help them build a better future. A future without drugs, prostitution or starvation. Streetlight also welcomes you to participate in our work in changing people’s future, creating hope where there is none. All you need is a burning heart

Sadness and frustration were written on Nerren's face when I talked to her one afternoon. The day before, I saw her crying. She was really bothered over Randy's case. As a volunteer nurse at Streetlight, she was left in charged of Randy's health condition. The young man's full recovery will be Nerren's ultimate goal. But that goal now seems impossible to achieve.

Bagunas Family
A leaky roof, a rocky and muddy floor, and a hazardous stairs, were only few of the problems the Bagunas family had with their house. When two Norwegian volunteers and one staff of Streetlight Philippines stayed overnight at their house, the desire to improve their present condition by repairing their house was ignited. Immediately house materials were on the way and construction started. The fine result was a house with cemented floor, a stronger, well-built walls, stairs and flooring. Nerlita Bagunas, the mother, is all thanks and praises to Streetlight for what they did. "My children can now play inside the house without getting dirty. The stairs is no longer dangerous for the little kids. The whole house is cleaner, more organized and spacious. It is totally different from our house before," she happily shared. Their newly repaired house brought significant improvement to the family's living condition.
